Baltimore Healthy Start, Inc. offers a wide array of programs designed to engage the entire family and ensure a healthy childhood starts at home. In addition to our programs, we offer transportation to health care appointments and center services, and childcare for parents during classes/events at the center.

GED Classes

Our GED® Test Preparation classes are open to the public and designed for adults 16+ years of age who have not earned a high school diploma and who are not currently enrolled in a school program. Instruction helps students prepare to take the General Educational Development (GED®) Test to earn a Maryland high school diploma. Childcare is available for Baltimore Healthy Start, Inc. clients.

Circle of Security Parenting

Using the COSP model developed by the Circle of Security Originators, our trained Facilitators work with parents and caregivers to help them to: Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs; Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions; Enhance the development of their child’s self-esteem; and Honor the innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure. Groups are eight weeks each. Transportation, child care and a meal are provided for attendees.

Get support with navigating fatherhood

We know that tending to the needs of a mother and her newborn is not enough to ensure that families start healthy and stay that way.
Engaging both parents — especially fathers — must be a priority if we want to continue providing a nurturing, caring home life for every child.

Baltimore Healthy Start, Inc. offers Fatherhood Engagement Services, a free program designed to encourage fathers and fathers-to-be of all ages to focus on their overall health — spiritual, physical, and mental — and learn to be better able to engage positively in their children’s lives.
