Baltimore Healthy Start, Inc. is committed to reducing infant mortality by utilizing a Life Course Perspective for improving the health and well-being of women and their families through the provision of comprehensive, supportive services offered in the communities where they live.
Our goal is to prevent infant mortality, the death of an infant before the age of one, expressed as the actual number of deaths per 1000 live births.
Birth weight is the single most important indicator in infant death. Healthy Start enages pregnant and postpartum women and offers services to increase the likelihood of birthing a full term baby.
The organization operates out of three full service community centers and three satellite locations.
Eligibility - to enroll into the Healthy Start Program, the woman must:
be pregnant or postpartum up to 6 months and live in one of our targeted communities (see our communities page to see our targeted communities).
